Long gone are the glory days of seeing former Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie on Wheaties boxes. (Well, actually, he has his own brand called Flutie Flakes, but that's besides the point) Now the only press mention he receives is when schlubs like myself post a photo of some other schlub rockin' his jersey. Talk about a great career though, especially for a relatively small quarterback (5'10, 180). After completing the legendary "Hail Flutie" pass in a 1984 Boston College game vs. Miami, Flutie went on to win the Heisman for best college player. After playing a few seasons in the NFL, Flutie came up north to the CFL and set almost every quarterback record along with being named the best CFL player of all time and being the first non-Canadian to be inducted into the Canadian Sports HOF. He made his return to the NFL in '98 and played with Buffalo, San Diego, and New England before hangin' up his helmet in May 2006. (Photo courtesy of Straight Cash Homey)
Gotta love the Jason Varitek t-shirt in the background.
