Gagne chased outta Beantown, ends up in Milwaukee

I was under the impression that Canadian-born pitcher and 2003 NL Cy Young Award winner Eric Gagne was pretty close to hanging up his cleats and his French-Canadian pitching eyewear for good. Apparently he's deciding to continue his tour of Major League Baseball.

According to the Milwauke Journal-Sentinel, the Brewers have signed him to a one-year deal worth $10 million. I guess desperate times calls for stupid decisions. His best days are far behind him especially after multiple surgeries, the Brew-crew will soon discover that he's no longer the dominant closer he was with L.A. I suppose the Brewers needed a half-decent closer after Francisco Cordero signed with Cincinnati as a free agent three weeks ago. Keyword: half-decent.

Digg!
