San Jose Sharks forward Ryan Clowe was arrested Monday morning for the suspicion of driving drunk. Some of you may remember former Shark and current Maple Leafs forward Mark Bell being charged with impaired driving after he hit a truck in his rental car last year. Bell was sentenced to a 6-month term for his offence and is set to begin serving time at the end of the '07-'08 campaign.
2 questions: is this recent drunk driving charge simply a coincidence? Or, do the re-occuring post-season under-achievements of the Sharks have anything to do with their players 'ridin' dirty' around the Bay Area? Okay, so maybe I'm over-analysing this, but hey it's Christmas and it's been a slow news day. I have another bone to pick...why do professional athletes have the option of serving their jail terms after playing a full season and collecting millions of dollars, when the rest of us 'normies' are forced to serve the time right away. For the record, I slide into the category between 'normie' and 'pro athlete that never-was'.
